style icon (part I)

There are things you just don't wear as a man, at least not if you want to come across masculinely: feather necklaces, red leather flares and embroidered silk blouses. But that's just what they told you! Take a look at my personal number one style icon Lenny Kravitz: That dude can literally wear whatever he wants without looking like a clown. 

So why is Lenny a style icon and the other man are just trying? It's his own taste, even if it's against the latest trend, his charisma to make clothes come alive and his ability to translate a message into fashion: Don't let society tell you what style is appropriate for your sex. Build up your own fashion rules and create your own style. This guy is a creative genius!

Es gibt echt Dinge, die darf ein Mann nicht tragen, wenn er von mir heiß gefunden werden will: eine enge Jeansschlaghose, einen breiten Ledergürtel mit aufwendig verzierter Goldschnalle und dazu am besten noch ein türkisfarbenes Netzhemd. Und nein, ich rede hier nicht von einem Outfit für die nächste Mottoparty im Countrystil!

Aber Lenny Kravitz finde ich heiß, sogar verdammt heiß. Dabei trägt er immer die seltsamsten Dinge...was ist da los? Andere Männer würden sich zum Gespött der Medien machen, aber bei ihm findet die Frauenwelt plötzlich alles männlich: rotes Leder, Federketten, durchsichtige Blusen und bestickte Hosen. Der Mann kann einfach tragen, was er will. Das Selbstverständnis mit dem er Kleidung und Accessoires geschlechterunspezifisch miteinander kombiniert, macht ihn für mich unverwechselbar. Modische Unabhängigkeit kann man wohl den wenigstens nachsagen, doch genau das verkörpert er für mich: Mit seiner Leichtigkeit steht er für geschlechtliche Gleichheit, Toleranz und Freiheit in der Modewelt. Und jetzt darf tief und sehnsüchtig geseufzt werden;)

Yesterday I was celebrating the weather by just wearing a sweater and no jacket, welcome spring! It's my fovourite time of the year: not too hot, but sunny and you can watch nature wake up - it brings energy and life to my soul:)

Gestern habe ich innerlich eine große Party gefeiert - der Frühling ist da!!! Ich liebe das warme, aber gleichzeitig frisch-kühle Wetter und freue ich über jedes kleine gesunde grasgrüne Blatt. Ach Frühling, wie schön, dass du da bist!

not just another trench coat.

There are things in fashion you just must have. No it-pieces, no one-saeason trends, I'm talking about classics. The good thing about classics is that they never go out of style, like a Chanel 2.55 or a little black dress by Givenchy. One of the classics I really want to have is a good trench coat. And when it comes to the stylish all weather coat I can only think about burberry. Normally I'm not a big fan of their typical check pattern, but in coats they‘re unparalleled. Burberry Prorsum heard my prayers and created the most desirable trenchcoats I've ever seen: straight cut, norrow silhouette and special materials. I really like how Christopher Bailey expands the focus of the traditional label Burberry by a new target group: always fresh and young, but with reference to their glorious past. In this coloured bast fibres look I would feel feminine, independent and ready to take over the world ;)

Manche Sachen muss man einfach haben. Modetechnisch sind das für mich dann aber nicht die typischen Trendteile, die jede Saison wechseln, sondern die Klassiker. Modeklassiker bleiben für immer im Trend und sind stark genug, uns modisch durch die bewegten Jahrzehnte des Älter Werdens zu begleiten. Einen Klassiker, den ich ich mir auf jeden Fall eines Tages anschaffen werde, ist ein Burberry Trenchcoat. Eigentlich mag ich deren Karo-Muster überhaupt nicht, aber seit Christopher Bailey für Burberry designt, gefällt mir fast jede Kollektion des Tradiotionshauses. Er nimmt die USPs des Hauses, stimmt sie auf den aktuellen Zeitgeist ab und schenkt uns frische und dynamische Kollektionen, die durch interessante Matrialien und Muster einfach lebendig und cosmopolitsch wirken. Ich jedenfalls finde die oben gezeigten Trench Coats wirklich zum Niederknien und hoffe, ich kann den Gestreiften irgendwo noch bekommen, wenn ich es mir leisten kann;)

love or hate.

Sometimes you have just two options: to love a thing or to hate it. Also in the world of fashion there's this rule, especially when it comes to the "it pieces" of every season. There has been a big hype around Isabel Marant sneaker weedges for a while now. You see them on celebrities and in almost every magazine. Most of my friends hate them, calling them rubber boats and sware they would never wear sneakers. I LOVE them! They have that urban touch: these booties make you feel like a Hip Hop Artist with a lot of Style. Now I just have to think about my bank credit. Or look for an alternative model, I'm not sticking with the label. I'm just in love with the idea of sneakers, they make your legs longer and your attitude sexier.

Manchmal gibt es im Leben zwei Möglichkeiten: lieben oder hassen. Gerade im Bereich der Mode gibt es diese Fragestellung häufig, vor allem, wenn es um die Trendteile der aktuellen Saison geht. Die Sneaker mit Wedgeeinsatz von Isabel Marant sind dafür das perfekte Beispiel. Es gibt Menschen, wie meine Freunde, die hassen diese Schuhe und es gibt andere, die lieben diese Schuhe. Ich finde sie unglaublich. Ein Sneaker, der lange Beine macht? Ein Sneaker, der mich auch abends im Club gut aussehen lässt? Ein Sneaker, der originell, interessant und gleichzeitig sexy ist? Entschuldigung, aber was erlauben sich meine Freunde, dieses Traumstück als häßliches Gummiboot zu bezeichnen? Ich sollte meine Freundesauswahl überdenken;) Ich jedenfalls bin voll überzeugt und brauche genau solche Sneakers! Ich befürchte nur, Isabel Marant liegt noch nicht in meinem Kreditrahmen und so halte ich die Augen auf nach günstigen Alternativvarianten.

Was sagt ihr zu diesem außergewöhnlichen Schuhmodell? No-Go oder absolutes Key Piece? Und was am wichtigsten ist: Wisst Ihr, wo ich Ähnliche herbekommen könnte?

Here you can see sweet sexy candy couture as its best. It's like a funny trip to an amusement park, eating strawberry cotton candy with a great sense of style of course. I don't think that fashion always has to be wareable and compfy. Most of the time fashion is art. And you don't use a jackson pollock to hang in your bathroom, do you?! According to my fashion sense, these two dresses have no purpose but to impress. The right one is of my favorite label McQueen and the left one from a fashion graduate here in Germany. An interesting thing about these two designs is their time of creation: Sarah Burton showed this dress in Paris at her fall collection RTW2012 this month. Marina Ilic presented her design in July 2011. The innovative fashion student was first with her design. Go Girl!

Heute morgen wollte ich am liebsten in einem Meer aus rosa Zuckerwatte aufwachen. Ich liebe verwunschene Märchenkleider, die eigentlich keinen Sinn haben, bis auf atemberaubend auszusehen. Ich finde beide Modelle superschön und aufregend, wenigstens braucht man hier keinen Schmuck, Arme und Hals verschwinden ohnehin in den geschätzten 8794573049 Metern Tüll;) Das Interessante: das Rechte (Alexander McQueen) vom Profi erschien lange nach dem Linken (Marina Ilic-frisch gebackene Modedesign-Absolventin). Fast neun Monate liegen zwischen den beiden Kleidern, eine halbe Ewigkeit im Zyklus der ruhelosen Modewelt.

Welcher Entwurf gefällt Euch besser? Und zu welchen Anlass würdet Ihr Euch so in Schale werfen? (Fantasieantworten sind herzlich willkommen;))

freaky me.

Some guys say that I'm a freak. And they are right. But instead of cooking naked or making out with my hot girlfriends, I'm doing other freaky things like watching Star Wars or making an oldschool collage (not with photoshop, i used glue and scissors). I've been a big fan ever since: love the message, love the characters  and (surprise, surprise) love the fashion! For me, Star Wars is very fashionable. I like straight cuts with shinny fabrics and a little bit of futuristic fantasy, so I went trough the current collections of my favorite designers and found a lot "Stars Wars inspired fashion".

Seems like the fashion teams of Alexander McQueen, Gareth Pugh, Hakaan, Haider Ackermann, Alexandre Herchcovitch, Chanel, Balenciaga and Kanye West (from top left to bottom right) watched some episodes with the sweet wookiee and Han Solo;)

Ich bin ein riesen Star Wars Fan, auch wenn die meisten meiner Freunde das mindestens wunderlich wenn nicht sogar besorgniserregend finden;) Ich jedenfalls finde meine Neigung völlig verständlich, schaut euch mal die Farben, die Stoffe und die Schnitte an! Über meinem Bett hängt jetzt meine selbstgeklebt, -geschnitten und -gebastelte Collage, schreckt gleich mal Menschen ab, die meine Leidenschaft nicht teilen;) Ich mag alles, was kastig, glänzend und futuristisch ist, deswegen habe heute ein bisschen in den aktuellen Kollektionen meiner Lieblingsdesigner gestöbert und euch die passenden Entwürfe herausgesucht.
